Benecke serves on numerous state and national committees including the Statewide Independent Living Council of Illinois’ (SILC) Advocacy and Housing Committees, the Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living’s (INCIL) Advocacy Committee, Housing Action Illinois’ Advocacy Advisory Committee, and NCIL’s Housing sub-committee.

Benecke’s commitment to community extends beyond human service organizations, she is a former board member of League of Women Voters Mc Lean County, where she remains an active member.

Since 1996, Gail has expanded LIFE CIL’s programs, opened our Pontiac branch office, and led our Center to be recognized as one of the leading Centers for Independent Living in the state.
